Operation of Modified RPAS in Advanced Operations

If you modify your drone and want to use it for advanced operations (under section 901.69), you must be able to show Transport Canada that it still meets Standard 922 safety requirements. Also, the modification must have been done according to the instructions of the manufacturer of the modification part.

No pilot shall operate a modified remotely piloted aircraft system in advanced operations unless they can demonstrate compliance with Standard 922 and the modification followed the part manufacturer's instructions.

Original regulatory text

No pilot shall conduct any of the operations described in section 901.69 using a remotely piloted aircraft system that has been modified in any way unless (a) the pilot is able to demonstrate to the Minister that, despite the modification, the system continues to meet the technical requirements set out in Standard 922 that are applicable to the operation; and (b) if applicable, the modification was performed in accordance with the instructions of the manufacturer of the part or equipment used to modify the system.
