Nature of the service
Drone Assistant is a regulatory information and research service. It uses structured regulatory data, software and artificial intelligence to organise, retrieve, summarise, translate and explain information published by official sources such as aviation authorities, legislatures and government data services.
It is designed to be a serious, evidence-based research tool: answers cite the official text they rely on, and the sources used are disclosed. It is not a substitute for the official sources themselves.
Not legal advice
Drone Assistant does not provide legal advice, and nothing in an answer creates a professional or advisory relationship. Where a regulatory question is material to an operation or to your liability, obtain qualified advice.
No flight authorisation
Drone Assistant does not grant flight clearance, airspace authorisation, operational authorisation, regulatory approval, waivers, licences, certificates or permission to fly. It cannot approve an operation and does not act for any aviation authority.
An authorisation route is not an authorisation. An application procedure is not an approval. A waiver process does not mean you hold a waiver. LAANC availability is not an FAA authorisation. A UAS Facility Map altitude is not permission to fly at that altitude. A geographical-zone map is not flight clearance. A rule that allows something under conditions does not establish that you meet those conditions.
Because an answer is based on the information you provide and on published sources, it cannot establish that a particular flight is lawful in all of its actual operational circumstances.
Your responsibility
The remote pilot and the operator remain responsible for determining which rules apply to an operation, for complying with them, and for carrying out every legally required pre-flight check before flying.
Official sources
Drone Assistant uses official regulatory and government sources where these are available. Source availability, publication timing and technical availability can affect completeness. Where a source could not be evaluated, the answer says so.
How sources are selected and processed is described in Sources and methodology.
AI processing
Information may be extracted, translated, classified, summarised or interpreted using artificial intelligence and automated processing. Where an interpretation is material to an operation, consult the cited official source directly. Every answer links the official text it relies on.
Spatial information
Location assessments may rely on official government and aviation datasets. A location result does not constitute flight clearance. Dataset limitations, publication scope and update timing may affect completeness, and are disclosed alongside the result where known.
Information freshness and monitoring
Regulatory sources are checked on a scheduled basis, and detected changes go through a controlled human review process before published information changes. This is not real-time legal monitoring: Drone Assistant does not promise instant detection of every regulatory development, or complete coverage of every source in every jurisdiction.
The What's changed feed lists reviewed and published regulatory changes only. The absence of an entry does not mean that nothing has changed in a jurisdiction.
Temporary restrictions
Drone Assistant may not always hold the latest NOTAM, emergency restriction, temporary restriction, local restriction or operational change. You remain responsible for performing any legally required official pre-flight checks, including current NOTAM and temporary restriction checks.
Accounts
Some features require an account. You may register with an email address and password, or by signing in with Google. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity carried out through your account. Accounts are for the registered user; shared team access is provided through team functionality where available.
You may stop using the service at any time. To have your account and associated personal data deleted, contact hello@flybyguys.com. We may suspend or terminate an account for misuse, unlawful use, non-payment or attempts to circumvent usage limits or technical protections.
Plans, billing and cancellation
Drone Assistant offers a Free plan with daily question limits, and a paid Pro plan at €7.99 per month or €79.99 per year. A Teams plan is published in advance at €49 per month or €499 per year and is not yet available to purchase. Current plans and prices are shown on Pricing, which prevails over this summary.
Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. There is no free trial. You can cancel at any time from Account → Billing; cancellation stops future renewals and paid features remain available until the end of the period already paid for. Switching between monthly and annual billing takes effect immediately and is charged pro rata.
Prices are shown excluding tax. Any VAT or equivalent tax for your billing country is calculated and shown by the payment provider at checkout; VAT figures displayed elsewhere on the site are estimates for guidance only.
Payments are processed by Stripe. Drone Assistant does not receive or store your full payment card details.
Refunds. Cancellation and withdrawal are different. Cancelling a subscription stops future renewal but does not normally refund a billing period you have already paid for. Where you validly exercise a statutory right of withdrawal, or otherwise have a mandatory right to reimbursement under applicable consumer law — including where the service is defective or does not conform to what was agreed — any refund is handled in accordance with those legal requirements.
Cancellation, withdrawal and account deletion
These are three different things and we keep them separate.
- Cancelling your subscription stops future renewals. Your paid features stay available until the end of the period you have already paid for. Do it yourself from Account → Billing. Unless applicable law requires otherwise, ordinary cancellation does not itself create a right to a refund.
- Withdrawing from the contract is a statutory right that consumers under Finnish and European Union consumer law generally have for 14 days after entering into an online contract, subject to applicable law. You can submit a withdrawal request from Account → Billing, or by writing to us in your own words. We acknowledge receipt of the request and assess it under applicable consumer law. Each request is reviewed by a person: recording a request does not by itself confirm that the right applies or that a refund is due, and we do not decide withdrawal requests automatically.
- Deleting your account erases your account data. You can do it yourself from Account → Profile. Deletion does not cancel a subscription and does not create a refund entitlement, so cancel first if you are on a paid plan.
Paid access to Drone Assistant begins as soon as your subscription starts. We do not ask you to give up your withdrawal right in order to start using the service, and we do not treat your use of the service as a waiver of that right.
If you are a consumer and validly exercise your statutory right of withdrawal within the applicable 14-day period, we will refund the amount paid for the affected subscription in accordance with applicable law. As a matter of our current policy, Drone Assistant does not deduct an amount for use of the service during that withdrawal period. This policy may be more generous than the statutory minimum, and it does not change how we assess whether the withdrawal right applies.
Nothing in these terms limits consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded or restricted, including rights concerning defective or non-conforming digital services.
Information about the right of withdrawal
The right. If you are a consumer, you may withdraw from your Drone Assistant subscription contract within 14 days of entering into it, without giving a reason, to the extent applicable consumer law gives you that right.
The period. The 14-day period runs from the day the contract is concluded — for a subscription, the day your paid plan starts.
How to exercise it. Tell us clearly that you are withdrawing. The simplest route is the withdrawal form in Account → Billing, which records your request and the date and time we received it, and gives you an acknowledgement of receipt you can save or print. You can also send an unambiguous statement in your own words to hello@flybyguys.com. You do not have to use any particular form of words; sending your notice before the period expires is enough. If you write to us, please include your account email address and the date your subscription started.
Consequences. If you validly withdraw, the contract ends and we refund the amount paid for the affected subscription in accordance with applicable law, using the same means of payment you used, unless we agree otherwise. Under our current policy we do not deduct an amount for your use of the service during the withdrawal period. Withdrawal and cancellation are separate: if you also want to stop future renewals immediately, cancel in Account → Billing as well.
Acceptable use
You may use Drone Assistant for your own regulatory research, including for commercial drone operations. You may not scrape, bulk-extract or redistribute the regulatory database, resell access, circumvent usage limits, or use the service in a way that damages or interferes with its operation or with other users. Programmatic access is available only through the documented API under separate credentials.
Intellectual property
Official regulatory texts remain the property of their publishers and are cited and linked as such. The Drone Assistant service, its structured data model, presentation, software and brand remain the property of Fly-by Guys Oy. You may use answers and extracts for your own operational and internal business purposes.
Availability and changes to the service
The service is provided on an ongoing basis but may be interrupted for maintenance, technical issues or matters outside our control. Features, coverage and plans may change over time. Material changes to these terms will be reflected on this page.
Limitation of liability
Drone Assistant provides regulatory information and decision-support tools to help users understand requirements that may apply to drone operations. Drone Assistant does not constitute legal advice, an operational authorisation, flight clearance or a guarantee that a particular flight is lawful or safe. Users remain responsible for assessing their proposed operations and complying with applicable laws, regulations, airspace restrictions, temporary restrictions, NOTAMs where applicable, authorisations, and operational and safety requirements.
We take reasonable care to source, structure and cite regulatory information accurately, but we do not warrant that the information is complete, current in every respect, or suitable for a particular operation, and we do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Fly-by Guys Oy will not be liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, revenue, business, opportunity or data arising from use of the service.
For business customers, Fly-by Guys Oy's aggregate liability arising from the service will not exceed the fees paid by the customer for the service during the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be prohibited by applicable law, or limits any mandatory rights available to consumers.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms and your use of Drone Assistant are governed by the laws of Finland, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of any mandatory consumer protection rights available to you under laws that would otherwise apply in your country of residence.
For business customers, disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Helsinki, Finland.
Consumers may bring proceedings in the courts available to them under applicable mandatory consumer law.
If you are a consumer and we cannot resolve a dispute: contact us first at hello@flybyguys.com. If the matter is still unresolved, a consumer resident in Finland can seek advice from the Consumer Advisory Services provided by the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (KKV) and refer the matter to the Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariitalautakunta, kuluttajariita.fi), which issues recommendations in consumer disputes. Consumers resident elsewhere in the EU or EEA can use the dispute resolution bodies and consumer advice services available in their own country, including the European Consumer Centre network.
