Als de maximale startmassa van het gebruikte UAS 20 kg of meer bedraagt, dan moet de UAS-exploitant een verzekering afsluiten overeenkomstig de bepalingen van verordening (EG) nr. 785/2004 van het Europees Parlement en de Raad van 21 april 2004 betreffende de verzekeringseisen voor luchtvervoerders en exploitanten van luchtvaartuigen.
