(1) For the purposes of paragraph 901.90 (e) of the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), a candidate must: - (a) obtain a minimum of 80% on the new examination “Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems – Level 1 Complex Operations” based on the Knowledge Requirements for Pilots of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems – Level 1 Complex Operations. - (b) successfully complete a new flight review by performing the following exercises: - (i) describe the site survey process including the use of a risk assessment method, for example the RPAS Operational Risk Assessment (ORA); - (ii) demonstrate the ability to plan a mission appropriate to the Level 1 Complex Operations RPA Pilot certificate; - (iii) describe emergency procedures that apply to operating an RPAS, including lost-link procedures and procedures to follow in the event of a fly-away, including who to contact; - (iv) describe when and how to inform Transport Canada and the Transportation Safety Board of an incident or accident; - (v) successfully perform pre-flight checks of their RPAS; - (vi) perform a take-off; - (vii) demonstrate the ability to navigate and avoid obstacles, both by visual reference (if GCS is capable), and by GCS reference only; - (viii) demonstrate the ability to recognize distances; - (ix) perform a landing; and, - (x) demonstrate CRM if other crew members are present. 921.08 TP 15530 Self-declared RPAS Training Providers Requirements - (1) For the purposes of paragraph 901.182 (1) of the CARs, a RPAS training provider self-declaration must - (a) include the following: - (i) name of the training organization/school; - (ii) course name (of the TP 15530 ground school training program); - (iii) course number; - (iv) duration of training (hours of classroom time and/or hours of on-line training specifically dedicated to TP 15530 material both of which must be instructor-led learning); - (v) location(s) where training is provided; and, - (vi) name of the chief ground instructor responsible for this training program. - (b) confirm that their training program is taught to the knowledge requirements specified in Knowledge Requirements for Pilots of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems –Level 1 Complex Operations, TP 15530 Operations, and covers but is not limited to the following subjects: - (i) applicable provisions of the Aeronautics Act and the CARs; - (ii) air traffic rules and procedures; - (iii) RPAS airframes, power plants, propulsion, and systems; - (iv) human factors, including pilot decision-making; - (v) meteorology; - (vi) air navigation; - (vii) flight operations; - (viii) theory of flight; - (ix) radiotelephony; and, - (x) operations carried out by remotely piloted aircraft systems under Part IX of the CARs. - (c) confirm that their training program is a minimum of 20 hours.
