To this end, operational categories have been defined with specific requirements associated with the RPAS design, construction, and reliability. (2) Standard 922 contains performance-based requirements that are intended to support the safe operation of RPAS in operations ranging from short range VLOS with sRPAS to BVLOS operations using mRPAS. Depending on the intended CONOPS of the RPAS various sections of standard 922 may be applicable. When required, a declaration, or a pre-validated declaration will have to be received prior to the RPAS being permitted to operate (See AC 9XX-### for guidance on these processes). The sections of Standard 922 are as follows: - (a) 922.04: Operations in Controlled Airspace - (b) 922.05: Operations Near People - (c) 922.06: Operations Over People - (d) 922.07: Safety and Reliability - (e) 922.08: Containment - (f) 922.09: Command and Control Link Reliability and Lost Link Behaviour - (g) 922.10: Detect, Alert, and Avoid Systems - (h) 922.11: Control Station Design - (i) 922.12: Demonstrated Environmental Envelope (3) Compliance with any part of Standard 922 is through a declaration made by an organization or individual who is taking responsibility for compliance of the RPAS with CAR Standard 922. To support the various levels of risk associated with RPAS operations, the Declaration system has two levels of robustness. For lower risk operations (i.e., sRPAS VLOS operation, and some BVLOS operations) an applicant is only required to submit a Declaration to TCCA that they comply with a particular standard. For higher risk operations a higher level of robustness is achieved by requiring the applicant seek a Pre-Validated Declaration. (4) Pre-Validated Declarations require that the applicant submit additional documentation for review by TCCA prior to being permitted to Declare compliance with a part of Standard 922.
