Exception for Public Authority and Emergency Operations at Advertised Events

If you are flying a drone for a public authority service, such as a police, fire-fighting, or life-saving operation, you do not need an SFOC to fly at an advertised event.

Requirement as structured

The prohibition on operating an RPAS at an advertised event without an SFOC does not apply to operations conducted for saving human life, police operations, fire-fighting operations, or other services conducted for a public authority.

Original regulatory text

Subsection (1) does not apply to the operation of a remotely piloted aircraft system for the purpose of an operation to save human life, a police operation, a fire-fighting operation or any other operation that is conducted in the service of a public authority.
