The RPA pilot operating within level 1 complex operations must be able to: - Demonstrate an understanding of DAA principles (i.e., Risk Ratio, and ARC). - Describe different types, strengths, and weaknesses of each DAA sensor type. - Explain what effect sensor range has on the area the RPAS can move within. - Describe automatic collision avoidance vs. manual collision avoidance. - Describe avoidance maneuver planning relevant to DAA systems. - Describe the function and limitations of visual based camera detection systems. - Describe the function and limitations of on-wing and ground-based RADAR. - Describe the requirements of a vision-based DAA system.
