If you do not hold a remote pilot certificate, or if your recurrent training has lapsed, you can still fly a small UAS under Part 107 as long as a certified, current remote PIC is directly supervising you and is prepared to instantly take over the controls.

A person who does not hold a Remote Pilot Certificate or a remote pilot who has not met the recurrent training requirements of part 107 may operate the small UAS under part 107, as long as he or she is directly supervised by a remote PIC and the remote PIC has the ability to take immediate, direct control of the small UAS.
