VLOS Distance in Obstacle-Free Areas

If you are flying in an open area with no obstacles and clear visibility all the way to the horizon, you can fly the drone as far out as you can still clearly see it.

EASA accepts that if the operation takes place in an area with no obstacles and unobstructed visibility to the horizon, the UA can be flown up to a distance where it remains clearly visible, as a means of complying with UAS.OPEN.060(2)(b).

Original regulatory text

If the operation takes place in an area where there are no obstacles and the remote pilot has unobstructed visibility up to the horizon, the UA can be flown up to a distance such that the UA remain clearly visible.
