In plain language

Multirotor: 327 x your drone's size in metres, plus 20 m. Fixed wing: 490 x wingspan in metres, plus 30 m. Visibility limit: 0.3 x visibility in metres, capped at 1 500 m.

Requirement as structured

EASA guidance publishes the following calculations. ALOS limit: for rotorcraft and multirotors, ALOSmax = 327 x CD + 20 m; for fixed-wing aircraft, ALOSmax = 490 x CD + 30 m, where CD is the characteristic dimension of the aircraft in metres. DLOS limit: DLOSmax = 0,3 x GV, where GV is the actual ground visibility at the site and time of operation, and GVmax = 5 km always applies. EASA states these examples are illustrative calculations and that a UAS operator may use alternative calculations with clear explanation and supporting documentation.

Original regulatory text

ALOS limit - For rotorcraft and multirotors: ALOSmax = 327 . CD + 20 m. For fixed-wing aircraft: ALOSmax = 490 . CD + 30 m. DLOS limit - DLOSmax = 0,3 . GV. The GV depends on the actual ground visibility at site and time of operation. However, the following always applies: GVmax = 5 km.
