Collision Avoidance with Manned Aircraft

If you see a manned airplane or helicopter near your drone's flight path and there is a risk of collision, you must immediately land your drone or take other safe actions to avoid it.

Requirement as structured

A person flying an unmanned aircraft must fly it, to prevent collision with aircraft or other unmanned aircraft, by the methods prescribed by Ministry Ordinance (Civil Aeronautics Act Article 132-86(1)(iii)). Under Ordinance Article 236-78 item 1, where a manned aircraft is identified in flight on or around the flight path of the unmanned aircraft and there is a risk of collision, the prescribed method is to descend the unmanned aircraft to the ground or take other appropriate measures.

第百三十二条の八十六　無人航空機を飛行させる者は、次に掲げる方法によりこれを飛行させなければならない。 一アルコール又は薬物の影響により当該無人航空機の正常な飛行ができないおそれがある間において飛行させないこと。 二国土交通省令で定めるところにより、当該無人航空機が飛行に支障がないことその他飛行に必要な準備が整つていることを確認した後において飛行させること。 三航空機又は他の無人航空機との衝突を予防するため、無人航空機をその周囲の状況に応じ地上に降下させることその他の国土交通省令で定める方法により飛行させること。
