Disqualifying Medical Conditions (Epilepsy, Syncope, and Hypoglycemia)

You cannot obtain or hold a drone pilot license if you suffer from active epilepsy, recurrent fainting spells (syncope), or hypoglycemia without warning symptoms, as these conditions can cause sudden loss of consciousness or control.

Requirement as structured

The illnesses specified by the Ordinance of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism under Article 132-46, Paragraph 1, Item 1 (b) of the Act are: (1) epilepsy (てんかん) (excluding cases with no risk of recurrence, cases where recurrence does not cause consciousness or motor impairment, and cases where recurrence occurs only during sleep); (2) recurrent syncope (再発性の失神) (temporary loss of consciousness due to global cerebral ischemia with a risk of recurrence); and (3) unawareness hypoglycemia (無自覚性の低血糖症) (excluding cases where blood sugar can be artificially regulated).

2　法第百三十二条の四十六第一項第一号ロの国土交通省令で定める病気は、次に掲げるとおりとする。 一てんかん（発作が再発するおそれがないもの、発作が再発しても意識障害及び運動障害がもたらされないもの並びに発作が睡眠中に限り再発するものを除く。） 二再発性の失神（脳全体の虚血により一過性の意識障害をもたらす病気であつて、発作が再発するおそれがあるものをいう。） 三無自覚性の低血糖症（人為的に血糖を調節することができるものを除く。）
