Danish Authority VLOS Distance Calculation (applies EASA method)
Verified from official sourcesIn plain language
Denmark explains the same EASA calculation with Danish worked examples: measure your drone, apply the formula, and compare it with the visibility figure.
Requirement as structured
The Danish Civil Aviation and Railway Authority (Trafikstyrelsen) publishes a practical VLOS distance method that applies the EASA calculation model. For multirotor drones the diagonal measurement is used: 327 x diagonal in metres + 20 m. For fixed-wing drones the wingtip-to-wingtip measurement is used: 490 x wingspan in metres + 30 m. Visibility-based distance is 0,3 x visibility in metres. The authority refers operators to EASA's Guidelines for UAS operations in the open and specific category for the full calculation model. This is Danish authority guidance, not binding Danish regulation.

Multirotor DRONES: 327 x [diagonal measurement in meters] + 20m. Example for DJI Matrice 30: 327 x 1.15 + 20 = 398.01 meters. Fixed-Wing DRONES: 490 x [wingtip-to-wingtip measurement in meters] + 30m. Example for AG Eagle Ebee X: 490 x 1.16 + 30 = 597.4 meters. VLOS based on visibility (DLOS): 0.3 x (visibility in meters). Example: 0.3 x 5000 = 1500 meters.
