Emergency Notification Exception to the Coast Guard

In an emergency or disaster, you can bypass the standard advance written notification to the Coast Guard. Instead, you may verbally notify the local Coast Guard Office immediately before takeoff, providing your details and, if you are not the facility manager, the consent details of the facility manager.

Requirement as structured

In the event of a disaster or other urgent and unavoidable circumstances, the notification to the Commander of the Regional Coast Guard Headquarters may, notwithstanding the standard advance notification rules, be made orally to the Chief of the competent Coast Guard Office, etc. immediately before commencing the flight of the small unmanned aircraft (小型無人機等), provided that the specified details are communicated based on the operator's category.

第四条　法第十条第三項の規定による管区海上保安本部長への通報は、前二条の規定にかかわらず、災害その他緊急やむを得ない場合においては、小型無人機等の飛行を開始する時間の直前までに、次の各号に掲げる者ごとに当該各号に定める事項を所轄海上保安部等の長に対して口頭で行うことで足りる。 一　操縦者のうち施設管理者等　第二条第一項各号に掲げる事項 二　操縦者のうち施設管理者等以外の者　第二条第二項において準用する同条第一項各号に掲げる事項並びに小型無人機等の飛行について同意をした施設管理者等の氏名、住所及び電話番号 三　公務操縦者　前条第一号に規定する事項
