If you want to train and assess your pilots in-house rather than using an external school, you must prove to the CAA that your internal instructors have sufficient experience, such as being former drone flight instructors or examiners.

CAA NZ requires operators seeking to conduct in-house pilot training or Operational Competency Assessments (OCAs) to demonstrate that their instructors have appropriate skills and experience, such as prior experience as a UA flight instructor and examiner.

For in-house pilot training or OCA using the organisation’s own instructors, CAA would need to be satisfied that the person(s) employed for that purpose have the appropriate skills and experience, e.g. previous experience as a UA flight instructor and examiner.
