If the Irish Aviation Authority directs you to do so, you must have third-party liability insurance covering every flight you make, whether you own or lease the drone.

Where directed by the Irish Aviation Authority, UAS operators must ensure third-party aviation-specific liability insurance cover exists for each and every flight.

Where directed by the Authority, operators of UAS shall be insured as regards their aviation-specific liability in respect of third parties. Where directed, operators of UAS shall ensure that insurance cover exists for each and every flight, regardless of whether the UAS operated is at their disposal through ownership or any form of lease agreement, or any other agreement of the same nature.
