Tether tensile strength for tethered aerostats of 25 kg or less

If you fly a tethered aerostat (balloon or airship) weighing 25 kg or less, the tether must withstand at least four times the combined force of maximum static thrust plus the aerodynamic force from the maximum wind authorised in flight. This calculation basis is different from the one for tethered aerodynes.

For a tethered aerostat with a mass of 25 kg or less, the tensile mechanical strength of the retaining means must be greater than or equal to four times the force produced by the combination of the maximum static thrust and the resulting aerodynamic force of the maximum wind authorised in flight.

2.4.1. La résistance mécanique en traction du moyen de retenue des aéronefs captifs de masse inférieure ou égale à 25 kg est supérieure ou égale à : a) Pour un aérodyne, 10 fois le poids de l'aérodyne à la masse maximale ; b) Pour un aérostat, quatre fois l'effort produit par la combinaison de la poussée statique maximale et de la force aérodynamique résultante du vent maximal autorisé en vol.
