Simplification of Documents for Class 2 Aircraft Certification of Type-Certified Drones

If you are applying for a Class 2 Aircraft Certification for a drone that is identical to a Type-Certified model or has been certified by the manufacturer as safe, you can submit simplified proof-of-conformity documents instead of detailed design, manufacturing, or maintenance documents.

Requirement as structured

For drones whose design and manufacturing process are identical to a model that has received Type Certification (型式認証), or those confirmed by the manufacturer to comply with safety standards, certain required documents for Class 2 Aircraft Certification (第二種機体認証) may be replaced with certificates of conformity issued by the manufacturer.

３　前項の表の一の項の上欄に掲げる無人航空機であつて、その設計及び製造過程が法第百三十二条の十六第一項の型式認証を受けた型式の設計及び製造過程と同一であるものが、第二種機体認証を受けようとする場合にあつては、前項の規定にかかわらず、同表の一の項の中欄第一号から第五号までに掲げる書類に代えて、当該無人航空機の設計及び製造過程が当該型式認証を受けた型式の設計及び製造過程と同一であることを証する書類（当該型式認証又は当該型式認証の変更の承認を受けた者が発行したものに限る。）とすることができる。
