In plain language
If you want to add a new category of small drone to your license (like switching from multirotor to fixed-wing), you must take training and pass a theory exam on the specific rules for that new category, unless you already hold an equivalent traditional pilot license.
Requirement as structured
To upgrade a Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) to include a different category of small RPA, the applicant must complete training and pass an examination in all non-common units of knowledge required under Schedule 4, unless they hold an equivalent manned flight crew qualification.
Original regulatory text
Subject to subsection (3), the aeronautical knowledge component of the RePL training course must require the applicant to complete training, and pass an examination, in all of the units of knowledge that are required for the relevant RPA under Schedule 4, except the Common units.
