Remote pilot licence requirement

You must hold a valid Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) to fly a drone, unless you are operating an 'excluded' drone (such as a very small drone or a sub-2kg drone flown under standard operating conditions).

This regulation does not apply in relation to the operation of an excluded RPA. A person commits an offence of strict liability if: (a) the person operates an RPA; and (b) the person does not hold a remote pilot licence that authorises the person to operate the RPA.
