When applying for a Part 102 certificate, you must describe your operational context in your exposition document. This includes details like your organization's size, drone complexity, pilot experience, safety culture, and the environment you will operate in.

CAA NZ expects Part 102 applicants to describe their operational context within their exposition, including the size and complexity of the operation, the nature of the UAS, operator experience, safety culture, and environmental factors.

Operators need a good understanding of the context in which they are operating and to be able to describe that context within their exposition. This includes: • the size and complexity of the operation • the nature and complexity of the UAS • whether the operation is novel • whether the operator has experience with this type of operation • how the organisation will keep the operation safe and develop a safety culture • the extent and nature of the interface with other individuals and organisations • the future positioning of the organisation and the planned rate of growth, if any • the fiscal sustainability of the organisation, and • the environment that operation will be working in
