Unmanned aircraft eligibility and class requirements for subcategory A3

In subcategory A3, you can only fly a drone that is either: privately built (weighing under 25 kg), a legacy drone meeting Article 20(b) rules, or officially class-marked as C2, C3, or C4. If flying a C2 or C3 drone, you must ensure its direct remote identification and geo-awareness systems are active and updated.

be performed with an unmanned aircraft that: (a) has an MTOM, including payload, of less than 25 kg, in the case of a privately built UAS, or (b) meets the requirements defined in point (b) of Article 20; (c) is marked as class C2 and complies with the requirements of that class, as defined in Part 3 of the Annex to Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/945 and is operated with active and updated direct remote identification system and geo-awareness function or; (d) is marked as class C3 and complies with the requirements of that class, as defined in Part 4 of the Annex to Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/945 and is operated with active and updated direct remote identification system and geo-awareness function; or (e) is marked as class C4 and complies with the requirements of that class, as defined in Part 5 of the Annex to Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/945.
