Under Article 99-10(2) of Taiwan's Civil Aviation Act, the operator must pass the examination and be issued an operator certificate by the CAA before operating a drone owned by a government agency (institution), school or legal person, a drone whose maximum take-off weight reaches a certain weight, or another drone announced by the CAA.

Under Article 99-12 of Taiwan's Civil Aviation Act, a foreign national holding drone registration, operation and inspection certificates issued by a foreign government may apply to the CAA for recognition and, once recognised, may conduct drone flight activities under the drone chapter of the Act.

Aircraft registration
- Taiwan: register drones of 250 g or more owned by individuals, and every drone owned by a government body, school or legal personVerified from official sources
Under Article 99-10(1) of Taiwan's Civil Aviation Act, a drone with a maximum take-off weight of 250 g or more (二百五十公克以上) owned by a natural person, and any drone owned by a government agency (institution), school or legal person, must be registered, and the registration number must be displayed on a conspicuous part of the drone.

Under Article 99-14(1) of Taiwan's Civil Aviation Act, drone flights must not exceed 400 feet above ground or water; must not drop or spray any object; must not carry announced dangerous goods; must follow the operating limits in the drone regulations; must not fly over crowds or outdoor assemblies and parades; must not fly between sunset and sunrise; must be operated within visual line of sight without any aid other than corrective lenses; the operator must not control two or more drones at the same time; the operator must monitor the drone and its surroundings at all times; and collisions with other aircraft, buildings or obstacles must be prevented.

Geographical zones
- Taiwan: no drone flights in prohibited or restricted areas or near airports; local governments announce areas and times below 400 ftVerified from official sources
Under Article 99-13(1)-(2) of Taiwan's Civil Aviation Act, drone flights are prohibited in prohibited areas, restricted areas and within a distance around airports or airfields announced by the CAA; outside those areas, below 400 feet above ground, municipal and county (city) governments announce the areas, times and other management matters for drone activity.
